Then the main attraction; the lifeboat from the Mersk Alabama, where Captain Phillips was rescued from three Somali pirates. We had been listening to his book “Captain’s Duty” on the way to Florida, and it was impressive to see the actual thing on display with broken windows and pockmarks just as he told the tale.

They also had the planning model of the Osama Bin Laden compound in Pakistan where the fearless terrorist was hiding before the Seals put him out of his misery. Other assault artifacts were on display too; a Humvee and a boat.

Outside were larger artifacts – a huge assault boat, and many smaller boats that had seen service, along with capsules used during the Apollo program that the divers would practice with for the real splashdowns.
