When we were done, it was off to President Garfield’s home, a two hour drive through Cleveland to Mentor, Ohio. This home is operated by the National Park Service, and we barely make it to get in for the last house tour of the day. Hence, it is easier to view natural wonders, since they are rarely closed for business.
Trixie wasn’t too sure about stopping because she knows about a cat named Garfield. But this is a different Garfield.
Like Hayes’ home, Garfield’s home is a mansion, but more haphazard, with a mix of wood and stone for its construction, and thanks to the concerns of the park service, it is significantly darker because of the shading on the windows. The first floor is impressive enough, with the unusual arrangement of some bedrooms on the first floor, because it was cooler.
