Day 15 – Views of the Mountain

The auditorium and museum below the faces on Mount Rushmore

The auditorium and museum below the faces on Mount Rushmore

What these men immortalized on Rushmore would think of this marvel escapes me as we gaze up – and try not to get run over by rotund lummoxes wheeling themselves about on straining electric carts.

Below the platform is an amphitheater, set amidst the forest and wilderness under these heads. At each end of the platform are stairs and elevators leading down, and massive black tablets engraved with the names of the entities that were responsible for this massive edifice for viewing the Mount. Two floors below, where the amphitheater begins, is the museum detailing the construction of the massive heads.
