We found our way to Devil’s Tower, a column of ancient lava that rises amongst the hills here, like a forgotten monument, the fluted lines of rock slowly cracking and falling away as if it were a ruin. This is a holy place to some Native Americans, and stopping here in June on the Solstice is akin to going to Jerusalem in Easter.  The various stories surrounding the place seems to add to the awe and mystery that enshrouds this monolith.
