Day 13: Norris Geysers

Obsidian Cliff is something of a disappointment – I had assumed it would be blacker, but this was a vital source of volcanic glass for Native Americans who fashioned it into arrowheads. It’s not black, more of a dark material.

Norris Geysers are more interesting – and well away from the parking lot, as I have to hike quite a ways in to view them from the museum and overlook; just a vast white plain stretches out below with an unnaturally blue pair of ponds bubbling and steaming away under the windy cold skies.
