Rainbow Point, is an easier trek from the car. The views here again – spectacular. After the three of us wander the edge, we return to the car, and pause at the neighboring point, another hike that Pops makes to view the southerly reaches of the park, from an overlook that had collapsed sometime in the past.
Driving north, we take turns getting in and out of the car, letting the car run continuously to keep it cool – the temperature began at 53 degrees in the morning, and in Bryce it rarely got more than 80 degrees – the wind helped keep things cool too. We overheard from some other tourists who had visited Zion – our only cancelled destination – where the temperature was in the high 90s or so. Suddenly, not getting there isn’t such a bad thing.
